Casa Nicodema - Ambato, Ecuador

<< BACK

Casa Nicodemo exists for the purpose of supporting the successful education of high school and university students from isolated rural communities by providing safe, clean housing and meals. Without this assistance, these students would not be able to study beyond elementary school in their remote communities. Many young people and adults wanting to break free from a culture of ignorance and alcoholism that dominates rural indigenous communities find support and opportunities for personal growth.

There are currently 28 students who live in the home, with two young married couples who function as houseparents/counselors. The students range in age from 11 to 28 years old. English classes and mentoring are also provided. A bakery project has been developed and has potential financial support to bake bread daily, providing the students flexible part-time work selling bread in local markets to help with their educational expenses.

Current Needs:

  • The monthly expenses of Casa Nicodemo are $1,360, which includes: rent $600, lights & water $250, maintenance $120, food $350 and miscellaneous expenses $40.
