Pan de Vida - Quito, Ecuador
<< BACK
Pan de Vida (Bread of Life) started on February 4, 2001, as a result of founder
Oscar Aguirre's love and concern for a 12-year old shoe shine boy named Juan
Alpapucho. The goal of this organization is to reach out to the many poor people
who live and work in the streets of the city of Quito.
The first meal was served to 20 people. Today the project feeds on average about
120 people twice weekly. Pan de Vida also operates a clothes closet, a school
supply program and training in literacy and practical skills such as sewing
Current Needs:
- $100 for a sewing class for the elderly women
- $1,500 to provide food for the homeless and/or poor
