Zámbiza Dump Program – Quito, Ecuador

The founders of Extreme Response first began working in the Quito City Dump in 1997.
It has been the home to more than 300 of the poorest residents of Quito.
There, ER efforts support a food and hygiene distribution center,
clothing assistance, basic medical and educational assistance,
self-esteem and domestic violence courses, counseling, hair washing,
the Annual Christmas Party and lots of love and encouragement.
Over 2,000 people attended the 2006 party, each person played carnival
games, made crafts, got their picture taken with Santa,
enjoyed live entertainment, received a lunch and a gift of staple food
items for the adults, or a children's gift bag.
ER currently runs a Day Care Center for the children at the Zámbiza
dump and a by-weekly medical clinic.
Current Needs:
- Baby care items; diapers, soap, baby wipes, used clothing
- Educational games for ages 1-5
- $5,000 for a medical unit and/or $300 for monthly needs.
