#GivingTuesday: A Day Of Generosity

You know about Black Friday and Cyber Monday, but what about Giving Tuesday?

Way back in 2012, some insightful people wanted to create a movement that matched the excitement and enthusiasm of those two popular shopping days, but with a twist. Instead of focusing on buying Christmas presents, they launched Giving Tuesday as an international day of generosity.

What a great concept. In the midst of our shopping hysteria, why not dedicate one day to causes? For people who want to make helping others a priority, we now have a day set aside to contemplate needs and give to a cause that we personally value.

Safe180-GirlsThis year Giving Tuesday is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 27. If you spend any time on social media, expect to see #GivingTuesday and #Unselfie hashtags in the days leading up to Nov. 27.

Because the movement has been growing rapidly, Mobile Cause anticipates Giving Tuesday donations will exceed $150 million this year. A majority of the giving is done online, often using a mobile device.

Some of the hallmarks of Giving Tuesday include:

*An opportunity for first-time donors to give to a cause they want to support

*A way for millennials (people age 35 and under) to show their generosity

*A way for all people to engage, possibly through volunteering, in addition to giving

child-1Extreme Response Wants To Be Your Giving Tuesday Cause.

We help people living in extreme, sometimes life-threatening conditions in developing countries. Typically the recipients of our help are at-risk women, orphans and vulnerable children living in deep poverty. We work with nationals in nine countries with the goal of helping them escape poverty through education, nutrition, skills training, human trafficking rescue and more.

Right now, ER has a unique opportunity to double your gift. Generous donors have offered to match gifts given to ER’s year-ending Matching Funds Campaign dollar-for-dollar up to $200,000!

To give to ER as your Giving Tuesday cause, here.
