Meet the Philippines’ newest fashion designer…ER’S Anne Benavidez! Anne trained for nine long years to accomplish this designation. It required countless hours and many sleepless nights.
As a wife, mom, leader in the church, and as the head of Golden Hands Livelihood, getting my designer certification required extensive extra time working on projects,” Anne said. “While everyone was bored during the COVID pandemic, I was working until midnight. As graduation approached, I worked day and night to finish my collections for the fashion show.”
“The training process included many rejections, revision and alterations of my garments and fabric choices. While making my collections, I got sick, possibly because of stress and sleep deprivation. Fortunately, with some help from the Golden Hands team, I finished my hand-made flower designs.”
Anne said despite a full load or responsibilities, she felt compelled to take the demanding training.
“I was motivated to give the Golden Hands women the best quality training. I want to inspire them so they know that at any age, you can do this. I want to demonstrate excellence and competence, as well as prepare for growth in our skills program. Having the fashion designing degree opens opportunities for connections and partnership in the fashion industry.
“All dreams can be fulfilled, even though you may experience hindrances and sacrifices. There is high value in commitment. You may be pushed to your limit, but you’ll experience great reward. Quitting is not an option. When you fail, you can cry, but don’t give up!”
Join us in celebrating Anne’s accomplishment. Many thanks to ER supporters, especially those who have poured into Golden Hands and our other skills programs.
