Another Ripple: Thanks to You, Anita Is No Longer Alone

Recently, Jaque shared her uplifting story for our Make Your Ripple year-end fundraiser. Below, you’ll be by inspired Anita, also a member of the Quito Recycling Community.

Four months ago, Anita Gaucho dragged herself to a workshop at the Quito Women’s Program. She didn’t want to go, but Maria, a friendly woman from the Quito Recycling Community, had invited her.

Anita was depressed, struggling emotionally and in a very dark place. She was quiet and didn’t talk. In fact, crowds make her nervous. She lives alone and was lonely. Doctors insisted she must continue medical treatment to get better, but it wasn’t helping. What could it hurt to hang out with some other women? She reluctantly started attending the Women’s Program regularly.

Soon, there was an incredible shift in Anita’s demeanor. She began laughing and sharing. She became lively. Teresa Jimenez, Women’s Program Director, poured into Anita to help her learn about Jesus and what he could offer her. Anita said being around caring women and learning about God’s love helped her immensely

The women began praying for her to accept Christ.

Then, it happened. Anita accepted Christ as her savior during the first day of the women’s retreat in September. Her life is being transformed. It now has purpose and meaning. She is loved and she is no longer alone. She is finally experiencing what it means to live an abundant life! Last month, Jaque shared her uplifting story for our Make Your Ripple year-end fundraiser. Today, you’ll be by inspired Anita, also a member of the Quito Recycling Community.

“I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the water and create many ripples.” – Mother-Teresa
