Vanessa: ‘If There Are No Teachers Like Us, What Will Happen to the Kids?’

In celebration of World Teachers Day (Oct. 5), meet Vanessa, 24, a new instructor in ER’s iBIKE program in Metro Manila.

Vanessa joined iBIKE in June and is making a huge impact on the kids. She has a degree in secondary education. In addition to iBIKE, she teaches ESL online and children’s Sunday school.

In this short video, she shares how she enjoys teaching outdoors through iBIKE’s mobile education, where we bring a “school on wheels” into neighborhoods that are in great need.

“When iBIKE is canceled because of bad weather, it makes me

sad because it’s a missed opportunity for the academic lesson and for Bible stories. The Bible verses we share are related to what’s happening in our world today.

“If there are no teachers like us, what will happen to the kids? They won’t get the education they need to hear. So if we don’t do this, who will?”

Vanessa, shares a foundational truth. At ER, we seek staff and volunteers who are called to serve as stated in Isaiah 6:8.

“Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, ‘Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?’ And I said, ‘Here am I. Send me!'”

If you know one of our teachers, encourage them today. They are the hands and feet of God, helping children learn, overcome their circumstances, persevere, and thrive.

Thank you for investing in Vanessa and the kids she teaches. Your support provides a lifeline to families who desperately need help and encouragement.
