Pathway For Hope Builds Up Manila Community, Families

In 2018, ER and Grace Church of Glendora (California) launched a community development program that focuses on helping women and families extricate themselves from economic hardship, low education and a lack of opportunity. The program is called Pathway For Hope and provides holistic empowerment opportunities for a community in Metro Manila.

Program
Goals

Pathway For Hope was launched with support of a church in California in order to create a longer-term, deeper impact for a community. The church sends short-term volunteers to work in the program to create greater engagement.

Goals for the program include growth and expansion, positive change and transformed lives.

So far, Pathway has trained hundreds of women in various life skills, business basics and sewing using ER’s Golden Hands Livelihood program and through sponsorship with TESDA — a Filipino government agency that provides technical education and skills training to the poor.

In addition, we’ve organized a savings and credit cooperative among hundreds of women in the community. This cooperative helps women rebound from financial crisis to attain sustainable living by starting their own small-scale businesses.

Do Something Today

Short-Term Volunteers and Career Staff are vital to the success of Extreme Response and our programs. Without you, we would not be able to change as many lives as we do. We mobilize people to serve others through volunteering, career work and advocating.
